The Behavioral Health Program is committed to delivering quality products and services that meet the needs of our customers.

Behavioral Health Quality Improvement (BH QI) department continually monitors and evaluates the Behavioral Health Care Management program for BCBSIL. BH QI identifies program enhancement opportunities benefiting members, physicians and other health care providers and shares information that can be used to achieve the best possible health outcomes.

The goals of our program are to:

  • Improve medical and behavioral health outcomes for our members;

  • Facilitate continuity and coordination of care among physicians and other health care providers by collecting data on:

o    Exchange of information;

o    Appropriate diagnoses, treatment and referrals of BH disorders commonly seen in primary care;

o    Appropriate use of psychotropic medications;

o    Management of treatment access and follow-up for members with coexisting medical and behavioral disorder;

o    Preventative behavioral healthcare program implementation; and

o    Identify the special needs of members with severe and persistent mental illness;

  • Communicate with members, physicians and other health care providers to promote improved member health, overall satisfaction and experience.

Teaching methods

  • Traditional Classroom Training.

  • Blended Training – Blended Training combines the convenience of online learning with a shortened practical skills session in order to meet both knowledge and skill objectives for learners. Using an online learning platform to meet knowledge objectives provides flexibility and self-control for the learner and convenience and cost savings for an individual, organization or employer.

If the participant withdraws from the course

  • less than 6 weeks prior: 25 % of the course fee will be charged.

  • less than 4 weeks prior: 50 % of the course fee will be charged.

  • less than 2 weeks prior: the whole course fee will be charged.

The tuition fee does not include accommodation, insurance or other personal living costs during the stay.
